I just received the latest revisions of Amped-ESP32 and Amped-ESP32-Plus boards, all based on the new TPA3118 amp schematics, finally finishing the design upgrade for every Amped board.
Risking repeating myself, reasons to change to the new amp are noise issues with the TPA3128 design on the Amped-ESP32, and the inability to work with the 5V VDD of the TPA3110 amp on the “Plus” model.
I finally finished the round of testing of the new design
- No pops on mute/unmute – checked
- Works with USB-C only (5V) – checked
- No hearable noise when no audio is playing, mute is off, and Wi-Fi is actively communicating – checked
The prototype batch is currently available on Tindie (Plus and non-Plus), while both Lectrons and Elecrow will get new stock later this year.
